Tripoli Minnesota Mission Statement

To develop, promote, and technologically advance amateur rocketry in Minnesota.
To do this, we have several key objectives:

Grow both adult and youth membership.

Tripoli Minnesota is one of the larger and more active clubs in the country. We want to share our excitement for the hobby and actively fly rockets as often and with as many people as possible. To that end we are always looking for individuals interested in amateur rocketry to see what we do and if they desire to join our club.

We conduct monthly launches from April through October and monthly meetings from December through March.

Educate our membership and the public in all aspects of amateur rocketry and promote certifications.

The better informed each of us is with respect to the design and construction of rockets the more successful each of us will be flying our individual and group projects. In order to improve our understanding of rocket technology our winter meetings are dedicated to educating the membership and public on various aspects of amateur rocketry. In addition, the prefecture actively supports individuals moving through the certification process. Currently over 75% of our members are Level 2 or above.

Build financial reserves to a minimum of one year of operating expenses.

In order to cover operational expenses, maintain and upgrade equipment, and support current technologies for the membership the club does charge dues which are 100% directed towards club expenses. The dues allows us to provide the membership use of launch pads for low, mid, and high power flights (up through P motors); a HyperTEK ground support system for hybrid motors; receivers for radio directional transmitters (tracking rockets), public address system for safety announcements, and a trailer for storage and transportation of the equipment

Finally, the reserves are in place so that the club is able to immediately address unplanned for expenses. This permits us to avoid any impact on the launch schedule as well as additional financial requests to the membership.

Improve launch operations for both members and spectators.

We are always looking for operational improvements that will allow us to fly more rockets, fly higher, fly safer, and ensure that everyone on the field is aware of what is happening at any given moment while having fun.

Expand and enhance research operations by providing equipment and improved access to members.

A large number of the members are interested in research aspects of amateur rocketry. This includes motor development, recovery systems, and tracking systems, among others. The club supports these activities by providing some equipment to assist in the development activities and by hosting periodic research launches throughout the year where these research projects can be tested and/or flown.

Foster a community of members by encouraging and supporting discussions, events, and mentorship.

We are a community that shares a common interest: rocketry. In order to foster and share ideas on all aspects of rocketry we have established a number of club communication mechanisms. These include the website, email lists, Facebook, and Google Groups as well as the monthly launches/meetings.
