Tripoli Minnesota May 2010 Launch

Tripoli Minnesota Club Launch. Held the Second Saturday of the month at our field east of North Branch MN. Setup starts at around 8:00 AM and first flights at 9:00 AM. We fly until everyone is exhausted, usually about 4:00 PM.
Tripoli Minnesota is a High Power Rocketry Club. We launch many rockets of all sizes from small models to the obscenely large. Some are 20 feet or more tall. Rocketry is truly a family activity for all ages. Kids (and those young at heart) are welcome to come launch on our 6 low powered launch pads, while the adults get to play with the really big and beautiful high powered birds on our 6 high power pads. Even if you just come to watch, rocketry can be fun and even a little educational. Youth groups are welcome, but a little advanced warning would be nice.
Launches
Submitted by tripoli on Tue, 01/25/2005 - 12:27.Launches
Launches typically take place on the second Saturday of the month during launch season, which in Minnesota is typically May through November (but may include winter- lakes and laws willing). Occasionally, the Sunday following a normal launch will be a research launch day, research launches allow for non-certified (as well as certified) rocket engines, but require the flier to be Level 2 certified.
Who can fly?
Low power launching is open to everyone and is free of charge. Mid and High power launching requires membership in the national Tripoli or NAR organization. In addition, there is an additional $50/yr or $10/day charge due to the local prefect to cover things like field rental and the port-a-potty.
Spectators
Spectators are welcome, but remember, rocketry can be dangerous. Please pay attention to the Launch Personnel announcements and keep children well in hand.
Legal Notice for Flights over 3000ft
Due to issues dealing with having a high power transmission line located approximately 1/2 mile away, we are posting the following documents. You are required to have read both documents, and you will need to acknowledge this by initializing a statement stating such on our launch cards.
These documents are in pdf format and can be downloaded from here and here

Directions to the North Branch Launch Site:
Take Hwy 35 to North Branch (approximately 45 miles north of cities). Go east on State Road 95 out of North Branch. 2.6 miles from 4 way stop at east end of town take a left on Jeffery Street to 400th. Look for launch equipment on field east of Jeffery. If no equipment is located here, turn left on 400th and proceed west for 1-2 miles looking for launch setup.
An alternative, especially if the ground is wet, is to go North on the main road through North Branch- Cty. Rd. 30 about a mile to 400th St. and go right to Jeffry.
I would like to remind everybody that these launches are a group effort and would not be possible if it weren't for the help of those of you that come early or stay late to help with setting up and tearing down. A special thanks goes out to our vendors:

Tripoli Minnesota July 2009 Research Launch
Submitted by tripoli on Wed, 07/08/2009 - 11:51.POSTPONED until July 19th.
Big Yeller and tower monkey Steve Anderson
This is a research launch, there are a few different rules then our regular launches. Due to a recent change in Tripoli research rules, all adult Tripoli members will be able to fly using certified motors. TRA members level 2 certified and above will be able to fly with non-certified (research) motors. The down side is that junior (under 18) and NAR only members will NOT be able to participate. We will still welcome and encourage anyone to participate as a spectator.

August Launch Report
Submitted by tripoli on Mon, 08/18/2008 - 12:12.August launch report and altitude records
The weather we had for the August launch was the best we have had all year! The stage was set for some spectacular and exciting flights and here are some of the highlights and altitude records that were set.
PatPat Arneson flew his scratch built rocket named "Just Fly The Damn Thing" for the days Trifecta of rocketry. Pat made a great choice using an Aerotech J420R for his power plant . The rocket soared to the incredible altitude of 6773 feet for a perfect flight. This smashes David Kittell's J class record from previous month and puts Pat in first place in the J class for now. This flight also won Pat the coveted August "High-flyer of the Month" award and to round out the trifecta this was Pat’s level 2-certification flight. Congratulations on all three achievements!
